Project: Trail Appliances
About this Project:
This project presented a unique and exciting challenge for our team. Unlike a traditional kitchen, the space was designed as a display suite within an appliance showroom; meaning the client would never live in it, yet we wanted it to feel authentic, warm, and inviting. Within a relatively small footprint, we were tasked with thoughtfully integrating more than 20 appliances while creating a setting that stood apart from the surrounding displays.
Our goal was to design a kitchen that feels as though it belongs in a home rather than a retail environment. By crafting a space that feels familiar and comfortable, visitors can imagine how the appliances might live within their own homes. The design encourages exploration and interaction while maintaining a refined, residential atmosphere.
To achieve this, we selected materials that reference natural elements, including a medium-toned woodgrain laminate paired with a marble-inspired quartz featuring warm veining. These finishes bring softness and warmth to the space, balancing the technical nature of the appliances.
Careful attention was given to visual rhythm and movement throughout the display. Strategic moments of contrast, such as the wood feature wall, layered black and white elements, and considered lighting guide the eye across the space. Repetition in lines and forms, from the backsplash detailing to the glass cabinetry and open shelving, creates a sense of cohesion and calm, allowing each element to connect seamlessly with the next.
The result is a display that not only showcases the appliances but also tells a story of how they can live beautifully within the context of a home.
