About this Project

There's something truly special about a client who trusts you more than once. This kitchen renovation marks our third collaboration together, following an office redesign and a mudroom transformation, and it may be our most personal yet. Being invited back into someone's home to shape yet another space is a privilege we don't take lightly, and this project poured every bit of that gratitude into the result.

The kitchen required a complete reimagination from the ground up. We reworked the kitchen layout, replaced the millwork, appliances, and relocated the sink to a wall where we introduced a new window; flooding the space with natural light and framing it with marble trim for an elevated detail. Underfoot, new checkered tile flooring anchors the room, while a custom walk-in pantry behind richly stained double doors with glass panels adds both function and drama, complete with patterned wallpaper and warm brass accents that feel like discovering a secret treasure room.

The design approach was one we love working with: old world and new, in conversation. A striking black-and-brass La Cornue range sits against an expansive Monet slab marble backsplash that climbs the wall like a work of art. Dark soapstone countertops atop a rich stained oak island grounds the space while white inset cabinetry keeps things airy and refined. The crowning jewel is an integrated wine, and display cabinet tying in the rich stained oak adorned with brass hardware; creating the perfect place to gather and pour at the end of the day.

A defining feature of blending old world charm with modern living is the embrace of living finishes; materials that evolve beautifully over time rather than resisting it. Throughout this space, unlacquered brass appears on the range, faucets, and hardware, gradually developing a rich patina of deep, warm tones and nuanced character that no factory finish could replicate. Marble and natural soapstone carry this same philosophy, each surface quietly recording the life lived around it. Where others may see a scratch or stain as damage, we see evidence of a countertop well used, meals prepared, conversations shared, and a home truly inhabited. These are not imperfections; they are the material's way of becoming yours.
