Project: Harvard Street – Kelowna
About this Project
Our Kelowna based clients were eyeing a Vancouver interior designer, although there were plenty of capable ones locally. When we enquired as to why, they said they wanted a unique style, so we set out on our journey together.
The design was totally based on the client’s passion for cooking and entertaining – one of them being an introvert, the other being an extrovert. We decided to fit two islands in the available space, so we started referring to them as “the introvert island” and “the extrovert island”.
The introverted island is closest to the cooking area and sink, so you can get some prep work done. The extraverted island is located near the outskirts of the kitchen, which makes it perfect for entertaining guests. The “Extraverted Island” with a high countertop made of solid walnut and waterfall legs. The lower countertop is equipped with a prep sink, an ice maker, a dishwasher, and even a bar fridge.
The clients had particular specs for the kitchen appliances and fixtures. This space has all the bells and whistles: a wine fridge & dispenser, a 5′ sink, an additional prep sink, two dishwashers, a 48″ cooktop, an ice maker, a beverage fridge, double wall ovens and last but not least – a 48″ fridge/freezer!
On an adjacent wall, there is an area with a tall fridge column for storing some of their wines and a wine dispenser. There is also additional storage for all the gadgets a bar needs.
Near the kitchen, we revamped a walk-in pantry where you can store extra food and supplies. Plus, it’s where the family can easily make cups of tea or grab snacks before they head out. We made sure all the shelves are open and easy to reach – each cubby is specifically designed based on what items it’s supposed to contain.
