Project: Aurora

About this Project

This renovation was not only a massive facelift, it also included removing walls, allocating space for a larger kitchen and updating the entire footprint of the upper floor. This made the kitchen the literal heart of the home while also creating an efficient space for cooking, eating and entertaining.

With a natural white oak island contrasted against a crisp white canvas, you would never know that this fresh and functional space was once closed off, orange and dark with only one 30” entry into the large room.

For the materials throughout, we used one of our favourite quartz; Silestone “Eternal Calacatta Gold” which has a soft white base with warm grey veining. Topping the countertops with a simple elongated white subway tile adding a timeless element to the design and creating a gentle balance between modern and traditional styles. Below are shaker cabinets in a natural white oak surrounded with white cabinets in Benjamin Moore’s “Simply White”(another one of our favourites). We wanted to incorporate the oak on the back walls to establish a cohesive look with the island. By adding a wood floating shelf on the fridge wall and wrapping the hood fan with an oak trim, we were able to elevate this white kitchen with the natural warmth that wood offers and draw your eye up guiding you through the space.

This was definitely a dramatic transformation that was extremely satisfying to watch come to fruition and our client was very happy with the end result, and so are we!
