Project: 203 A Langley
About this Project
This gorgeous new build in Langley didn’t require much of an overhaul, it just needed those final tweaks to go from your standard builder grade house to a refined, designer home. So when our fabulous clients approached us looking for some additional storage and assistance balancing out their 18 foot fireplace & ceiling, we were up for the challenge. The look they wanted was wood furniture pieces on either side of the fireplace that would add storage and look proportionate in their great room. After reviewing numerous materials, colours and samples, we decided that laminate millwork would be the most durable option. The existing wood flooring throughout the space had a lot of depth, colour and texture to it, so finding the right colour for the space took an extensive search but we found the perfect wood grain & tone from Tafisa. This light buttery blonde laminate wood complimented the floors without competing or getting lost in them. It just lightened up the space and tied it’s surrounding elements together. The antique brass latch hardware was the cherry on top that really completed the look of these furniture like cabinets by blending traditional elements with modern materials & finishes.
It It was important that our client’s personaity was reflected in their space and that the cabinets could also withstand their lifestyle with two little ones. So we did just that! By adding built in cabinets, designed to look like furniture pieces, topped with two floating shelves on either side of the fireplace, we were able to enhance this large focal point, increase functional storage, and display centimental items. Who says you can’t have beauty, function and durability? ‘Cause we sure think you can!
